About Music To Grow On
Music To Grow On (MTGO) was established in 2000 to provide Music Therapy for individuals with special needs throughout Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer Counties. MTGO has remained committed to using music to assist individuals with special needs reach their fullest potential. MTGO continues to expand their vision and is establishing work with individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. MTGO contracts with 25+ school districts, two mental health facilities, two retirement communities, a handful of long-term care facilities and homes for adults with intellectual disabilities, and also serves private pay clients. MTGO is a mobile business based in West Sacramento, California serving facilities, schools, and individuals throughout Placer, Solano, Sacramento, El Dorado, and Yolo Counties. MTGO primarily provides services in person, however, about 10% of our clients are still seen virtually.

Job Description
Board Certified Music Therapist working with individuals and groups of all ages and abilities. This position is responsible for providing high quality group and individual services for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in either the school, home, or a facility setting.

JOB POSTING SPECIFICS

Entry Rate:
$30.00 / hour for direct services & documentation and preparation
$16.00 / hour plus $0.67/mile for travel
$17.00 / hour for training time

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Develop therapeutic goals through assessment and evaluation.
  • Develop and provide appropriate music therapy interventions to support a variety of diagnoses and challenges ranging from physical, cognitive, emotional, And intellectual disabilities.
  • Provide weekly specialized individual and group music therapy sessions for individuals on the Autism spectrum and who are otherwise neurodivergent.
  • Employ musical skills in non-therapeutic setting by teaching music lessons.
  • Navigate telehealth services where needed.
  • Attend Individual Education Plan meetings and Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team to provide the highest quality of care to our patients/clients.
  • Maintain documentation that accurately reflects client outcomes through completed professional reports.
  • Drive between facilities, schools, and private homes.
  • Participate in team and staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and MTGO events.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality as mandated by HIPAA.
  • Attend professional development opportunities to maintain credential and advance clinical skills.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Board Certified Music Therapist (Must hold MT-BC credential)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent documentation and goal writing skills
  • Ability to be flexible and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in basic counseling/verbal processing skills
  • Promote a positive and energetic group environment
  • Experience building strong therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Experience working in a group therapeutic setting preferred
  • Experience working with neurodivergent individuals preferred
  • Knowledge of Individual Education Plan processes, developmental milestones, and of the assessment process and progress notes
  • Work well independently but also a good team player
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated, possessing grit and integrity
  • Strong clinical musicianship skills – excellent rhythmic skills, comfortable with improvisation and songwriting, and using a variety of repertoire
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance and the ability to travel to multiple locations
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • TB/PPD screening required upon hire
  • Technical skills: Google Drive / Workspace applications
  • Physical Requirements: carrying equipment, sight, mobility, sitting/standing

Board Certified Music Therapist: Music To Grow On, Music Therapy Services, Inc. seeks a Board Certified Music Therapist.

Job site is located at: 19 Jackson Street, Woodland, CA, 95695; Sacramento County; El Dorado County; Placer County; Yolo County; Solano County

The position requires:

  • Bachelors Degree in Music Therapy, or a related field
  • Board Certified Music Therapist
  • Clean background check

Travel: Travel by car to and from individual client’s location, including schools, personal homes, and facilities within 40 miles. Travel is required daily. Travel including Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer, Yolo and Solano Counties.

Job Duties:

  • Conduct group and individual sessions
